One of the most anticipated moments of the college basketball preseason is the release of the annual Ken Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings. The ratings rank every NCAA Division-I basketball team from one to 364, and while not a perfect metric, is usually a marker of a new season on the horizon.

A good amount of the attention these ratings get, of course, goes to the top of the list. The Blue Bloods, the perennial contenders, the teams that top prospects can be found on and high-major teams with an all-new roster.

The further down the list, however, the less spotlight each team gets. That’s a shame, because a lot of the teams, even down past and around the 100 mark, are going to be fun teams to keep tabs on, with a plethora of prospects.

That’s what the focus of this piece will be, looking at five intriguing, under-discussed teams down the list—Santa Clara, Saint Louis, High Point, Washington State and Temple—all of whom possess at least one or two solid prospects worthy of a watch.
